What Good is a Small Green House?

Some people look at their small property, or small budget, and become discouraged by being limited to a small green house. They may see the large ones at the nursery, and become lost in trying to fit all that into the small space allowed them. This shouldn’t be seen as a limitation, but rather as an opportunity. Not everyone needs the huge, hangar-sized greenhouse, most can be very happy with a small green house, if they know how to work with it. Careful selection, organization, and smart usage are the keys to using a small green house to its full potential.

Getting the Most from Your Small Green House

It all starts with the decision on placement. If you are limited on space, then the part of it you allot to your small green house becomes that much more valuable, so placing it optimally is very important. Be careful as you consider not only the sun you want for your green house, but just where you might want the rest of your garden as well. It wouldn’t do to place it, and then later remember that happened to be just where you wanted to place a focal point for your garden.

Now that you know where you are putting your small green house, it is a good idea to consider just how you want to use it. Many people with a small green house only use it seasonally to winter plants that may not be able to stay on the outside during the cold. This allows them to have plants they might not be able to without the greenhouse.

Once you decide on where and how, it might be good to think for a bit about what. This means looking carefully at the plants you want for your garden, and sorting out which ones might need the green house and which not. With a small green house, this process has to be a bit more involved, as space is at such a premium. Therefore, the plants need to be special plants that you really want to have, but might not be able to have due to your climate zone.

After you have made all the selections, the smaller space will require you to organize carefully. You will most likely not have room in your small green house for storage, so you will have to have some place for your tools and extra pots and so forth arranged. Now you can see that, through careful planning and selection, the size of your green house should not be that great an issue.
